‘Super Sunday’ Community Phonathon March 9
Answering the Call for Jews in Need
On Sunday, March 9, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation will host its annual Super Sunday Community Phonathon, raising vital funds for the Federation/UJA Campaign, to help Jews in need in Miami, in Israel and in 60 countries around the world.
Beginning at 9 a.m., volunteers of all ages will come together at the Federation’s Stanley C. Myers Building at 4200 Biscayne Boulevard for the 12-hour phonathon to call members of the Miami Jewish community and ask them to make a donation or increase their previous commitment.
Super Incentives
Volunteers can also raise money for their synagogue, Day School or agency by signing up for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s special incentive program. The represented organization will receive 50 percent of every paid new donation or increase that was under $1,000 last year. As an extra incentive, the agency or organization with the most volunteer callers signed up by Friday, March 7 will receive an additional $1,000 over what is raised during Super Sunday.
Super ’60s Fun
More than an all-day fundraiser, Super Sunday is also a great day for the entire family and an opportunity to connect with the Jewish community. In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the modern State of Israel, Fefferman and the Super Sunday Committee are putting together a fun-filled day with a 1960s theme. Volunteers are invited to come to “Super ’60s Sunday” dressed in 1960s fashions. There will be music from that decade and plenty of fun activities for young and old. There will even be a “teen room,” where teenagers can make phone calls and earn community service hours.
Super Tzedakah Project
As with past years, students at Jewish Day Schools are getting in on the action with a coin drive. Educational materials about the mitzvah of tzedakah are being distributed at 16 Federation-funded Jewish Day Schools throughout Miami-Dade County, along with tzedakah boxes for students to collect funds for the Federation/UJA Campaign. The boxes will be turned in and coins counted on Super Sunday.
