The meeting was called to order by President, Michael Newman at 8:12. P.M.
Kavana: Rabbi said that the Schma is the watchword of our faith and as close to a creed as we have. It basically says that G-d is one. Prayer is both private and public.
Minutes: Irene Elliott made a motion to accept the last Board meeting minutes as presented. This
Was seconded and passed.
Israel Trip: Rabbi Kram talked about the proposed trip to Israel. It will be from approximately May 5 to 14. Further details will be forthcoming as they are available. He is working with a tour company in Israel.
VP Programming: Michael Henry discussed the Yizkor book for Yom Kippur. It would be a fund raiser with people paying to list the names of their loved ones. The board was in favor of this. He said that there would be a small oneg after Rosh Hashannah evening services, wine and Challah. There will be a bigger Oneg after the Rosh Hashannah day services.
Vice President Communication: Alan finds that having the TWABO deadline Friday with a Monday publishing date is working out. He will have membership forms on line within the next few days.
Membership: April said that the July 19 Membership brunch was going nicely. There will be a gathering, with noshing in the Oneg room. We will then go into the Sanctuary where there music and the rabbi will talk. She needs help for the Aug. 9 membership affair. April showed us copy for the memership ads which will be in local papers.
Vice President Education: Jen said that Marty Levine has offered to give a Hebrew Literacy class on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. It is free including the books and all materials.
Vice President Finance: Irene reported that all bills are paid and we ended the year with a few dollars in the bank. She said we had 112 members at the end of the year.
Yard Sale: Marcy Prince reported a total income of $6,052 from all 3 yard sales. She thanked everyone for their help and cooperation. She said that Rowena and Kathy Fisler did an amazing job on putting the covering on the Chikee so it was water proof.
Vice President Administration: Jeff said the hurricane shutters have been checked and they are in good shape. He said they will be reinforcing the front door. He is looking for volunteers to assist in readying the Temple in case of hurricane warnings. Jeff said as soon as the yard sale things were taken out of the Chikee that Mauricio would put the new roof on. After the roof the new flooring will be installed.
Strategic Planning: The rabbi suggested a strategic planning meeting, planning for the next 5 years.
It was decided that Sunday was the best time.. The first meeting will be July 26 at 10 a.m.
